It’s time to tame your anger

The key to taming your temper is to learn how to control two main areas of your thinking.

Firstly, learning to regain control of your imagination, rather than letting your imagination control you.

I’m sure knowing you have an unpredictable temper that you’ve experienced far too often thoughts of what if I get angry again and lose control? What if things get so out of hand something goes catastrophically wrong? What will happen if that happens? All those thoughts racing through your mind are hard work – let’s get them under control.

Secondly, we will develop skills to help you learn how to manage expectations. Most people with anger problems are either experiencing the problem constantly, or trying to hold back and control it, yet expecting it to rear it’s head at some point soon – there is very often a “fear of the fear” our temper creates.

We’ll neutralise that line of thinking, and give you a solid foundation to adopt more positive thinking instead.

Why struggle quietly?

If you are struggling, I genuinely believe CBT Therapy is a useful way to help you regain control of your anger. CBT isn’t about digging up the past and endlessly analysing it and looking intrusively for hidden meaning.

Whilst CBT will acknowledge root causes and what may be driving a problem, the work I do is focused on teaching you how to change right now.

The best approach for you

My approach is as unique as the person I work with, so I’ll find the right way to work with you. Perhaps you would like to begin slowly? Just want to talk on a general level about your concerns around anger and get things off your chest – no problem.

Or perhaps you would prefer to really get stuck in straight away and learn to master some self mind control and coping techniques – no problem.

Or perhaps a mixture of the two? We’ll work out exactly how you will best respond to learning to change, and keep on working at it – I won’t give up on you.

Life can be different

Your anger can be tamed. Whilst learning to change isn’t always simple and straightforward, it certainly can be done. Time and time again my clients report back that in retrospect, the hardest part of overcoming anger concerns is getting started.

It can be a big step to admit that there is a problem beyond your control, and seeing someone for help may seem intimidating.
